This is a great organization, that does amazing things for families and seniors right here in East Texas. If you would like to help them with these food distributions they are always welcoming to new volunteers. CLICK HERE. They are also a great place to do any kind of community service. State mandated or not.
If you are in need of food, the distribution is on a first come first serve basis. Also, the type of produce is pending availability. There are no eligibility requirements to get help. If you know someone that could use this, share this post.
Due to the Covid-19 outbreak there has been a bigger need than normal. October was a huge month for food distribution. With so many closures and layoffs many families income has suffered. Lack of funds leads to hunger very quickly. The East Texas Food Bank is here to serve that need.
If you are planning on attending they are asking that you enter the Expo Center via Highway 69 Westbound. After you get your produce just exit onto Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. Just stay in your car and be prepared to pop your truck or have your backseat clear to receive the produce. The food boxes are full of nutritious fresh produce and other fresh items. You can even pick up a food box for a friend with a signed note from them.
