This time of year, is the perfect time to save money on electricity bills. Don't you want to do some Christmas shopping? You better turn that heater off. Here in Southern East Texas, The Pineywoods, Texas Forest Country, Deep East Texas, whatever you call it, it is actually unseasonably cold. Wearing a jacket this time of year here, means it must be raining. Because there are only a couple of months a year they are really needed.

Outside, unless temperature is below 50, you are good. Put on an undershirt, and get to work, no jacket needed.  It is still getting up in the 70's in fall here, but 2018 has set all time records in parts of the south. This might lead you to believe you should turn on the heater. No damage will come to your home if you leave the thermostat at 55 degrees. That is enough to make the heater come on when you really need it.

Think to yourself when you walk over to the thermostat. Are you wearing socks? Do you have on a long sleeve shirt? Do you have on pants? Can you see your breath? If the answer to all of these questions is no, then you have no need to turn on the heat. This is the one thing you have been paying for all summer long. Ice cold air, and once you finally get it for free, don't renounce it with a heater. You can always put on clothes, but when you are hot, you can only be so naked.
