Where were you 15 years ago, today? Do you even remember where you were at the time? I remember exactly where I was. It's a day that I don't think I'll ever forget.

I was at my parents' house in Deep East Texas, riding out something that I didn't think we'd ever see in this part of the world. We were riding out a hurricane.

September 24, 2005.

That day is one that no native East Texans will forget. On that day, Hurricane Rita was making it's way through the Pineywoods. I can remember the rain, the wind, and all of the uncertainty of the whole situation.

As a 6th grade student at the time, that whole event was something that will stick with me. Not only the storm itself, but the damage and destruction that we were dealing with for several weeks after the initial storm.

As I look back, I'm glad that that's been the worst we had to deal with. There was Hurricane Ike in 2008, and we were afraid that Hurricane Laura would be as bad this year, but neither of those - at least in my opinion - were as bad as Rita was.

It's hard to believe that Hurricane Rita was actually 15 years ago. We've made it to the 15th anniversary...that's crazy...

How many of you remember it? What memories do you have of the hurricane that came through here 15 years ago? Let us know in the comments below.
