Lots of people assumed that since the annual Nacogdoches Freedom Fest was cancelled this year, the fireworks show that was part of the festival would be cancelled, too. However, that's not the case.

According to a post on the Nacogdoches Jaycee's Facebook page, there will still be a fireworks show in town for July 4th. This year, the show will be held at the SFA Intramural Fields, on the SFA campus. If you're not sure about where that is, it's located at the corner of Wilson Drive and Starr Avenue, just across from Pecan Park. Here, we'll even give you a map to help out:

The show will start at 9:30 PM on July 4th. They do encourage you to wear masks and practice social distancing if you're planning on sitting outside of your vehicle.

No, it's not going to be the same as it has in the previous years when it was paired with the Nacogdoches Freedom Fest. However, it is nice that they are continuing the fireworks tradition. It makes for a - somewhat - normal July 4th. Also - as of right now - the weather forecast is pretty good for that day, so hopefully you won't have to worry about a rain-out!

This was the original post that was put up on Facebook yesterday:

So, if you're looking for fireworks on July 4th, and you don't want to drive way out of the way to enjoy them, you can make plans to be at the SFA Intramural Fields by 9:30 that night...or, maybe a bit earlier so that you can get a good spot!
