Less than two weeks ago, an EF-2 tornado with maximum winds estimated at 125 mph carved a 37-mile path through portions of northwestern Nacogdoches County and southern Rusk County. Areas around the communities and towns of Lilbert, Cushing, and Mt. Enterprise received heavy damage and the clean-up and restoration of services continue.  The City of Cushing water supply was affected, but thankfully, it is now been fully restored.

In response to this tornado, Nacogdoches County Emergency Management and community partners from the Deep East Texas area will open a Disaster Assistance Center (DAC) on Saturday, April 2 from 1 to 4 p.m., then again on Wednesday, April 6 from 4 to 6 p.m.  This will take place at Cushing City Hall located at 808 7th Street in Cushing. Representatives will be available to offer disaster recovery information for those affected by the March 21 tornado in the Cushing/Lilbert area.

This is being done on a first come first serve basis; appointments are not available. Identification and proof of address are required at these events.
