The search for 'Glee' actress and singer Naya Rivera has now turned into a mission for recovering her body, according to authorities in Ventura County, California.

Rivera was reported missing after renting a pontoon boat with her 4-year-old son Josey on Wednesday. Josey told investigators that the pair had been swimming, but that his mother didn't get back on the boat with him.

The Ventura County Sheriff’s Department launched a search for the 33-year-old using drones, diving teams, and helicopters, but there's no trace of Rivera.

Rivera is presumed to have drowned, and the mission is now focused on recovering her body.

"The difficult conditions have made the recovery operation a very slow process," said Ventura County Sheriff’s Department Capt. Eric Buschow.

Ventura County Sheriff Sgt. Kevin Donoghue said it's possible that Rivera's body may never be found.

“If the body is entangled in something beneath the water, it may never come back up. We don’t know," he said.

Rivera's last Instagram post was a photo of she and Josey with the caption, "Just the two of us".
