Bet You Didn’t Know: July Is National Cell Phone Courtesy Month
Oh boy...I could really get on my soap box for this one. July is National Cell Phone Courtesy Month.
I know there are only a few days left, but that doesn't mean we can't still observe this month, right?
You know what cell phone courtesy means? It means things like the list below:
- Silencing your phone in the movie theater
- Silencing your phone while in a meeting, having a meal with family and/or friends
- Not texting and driving
And, my personal favorite: NOT WALKING DOWN THE HALLWAYS OR STREETS WHILE YELLING AT YOUR SPEAKER PHONE. I mean, seriously, we don't have to hear your entire conversation with whoever is on the other end of the line. Plus, I'm willing to bet that they aren't particularly big fans of you blaring their business all over the world either.
See? I told you that I could get on a soap box about this one.
Common courtesy is not a difficult thing. It just requires a bit of common sense. Also, it can be a pretty nice experience to unplug from the phones every now and then, even if it's just for a few minutes. And, if you can't unplug for whatever reason, have the decency and the *COURTESY* to excuse yourself from the room and present company to take the phone call elsewhere.
So, even though there's only a few days left, I say we celebrate National Cell Phone Courtesy Month before July is over.
