Book Buddies of East Texas to Giveaway 60,000 Books to Area Kids

60,000 books!

That's how many books will be available for FREE to East Texas children this Friday and Saturday in Lufkin.

Book Buddies of East Texas invites the community to the first of its kind drive through book giveaway. It is more like a book selection celebration for toddlers through middle schoolers.

Friday and Saturday, July 31st and August 1st, you're invited to bring your kids to the Chestnut Village Shopping Center in the heart of Lufkin at 535 South Chestnut.  Simply drive into the parking lot and up to the front entrance of the building where Lufkin Police Officers along with city volunteers and representatives from the Concerned Black Men of Lufkin will help the children select six age appropriate, gently loved books to take home and keep for their very own. If multiple children from one family come, they could create their own home library.  In fact, you're allowed to bring your kids to select books both Friday and Saturday thereby doubling the amount of books they take home from this event.

All social distancing and sanitizing guidelines will be followed to insure the well-being of the children and the volunteers.

It’s important to keep our children reading throughout the summer so they don’t fall behind in school.
