After less than a year of being open in the old Taco Bueno location next to Burger King at 2408 South First Street in Lufkin, Texas - Chick' N Max has closed its doors for the last time.

The restaurant opened to much fanfare in Lufkin and was working hard to be a part of the community. They recently had a fundraiser for Apple Springs ISD donating 25% of every check that mentioned the school.

Aaron Johnson was the owner, originally from Colorado, and he also owned the Chick' N Max store in Willis, Texas. That store along with the Lufkin location has now closed.

We are inundated with news daily about corporate greed, and this is the other side of the coin. Though closing both franchises, Johnson was most worried about his current employees.

In the same Facebook post announcing the restaurant's closing, the owner mentioned they were doing everything possible to help their amazing team members find their next job. That was refreshing for me to hear.

The restaurant had already garnered many fans in the Lufkin area. The closing announced on the restaurant's Facebook page brought home the permanent nature of the decision for current customers.

They made many positive comments about the restaurant. Some recounted enjoying the service and were sad to see it already closing.

Others commented they would miss the chicken sandwiches and onion rings.
