  • This tiny, roping dummy is the way that real ranch hands play during their downtime.
  • The tabletop toy has been around for a long time and is made in Texas.
  • This is a great way to get your child interested in roping and riding.

If you have ever taken a kid to a Western wear store, they will have likely found "The Original Cowboy Toy" on a shelf. Even in a store with a tiny toy section, they will always find the best thing.

These sell for around $40 and are made by a place called Circle R Company.  There is not a lot of information about the company online.

The only clue is an address to a P.O. Box in Richard, Texas. This small town in South East Texas is between Huntsville and College Station.

The Cowboy Toy Is A Texas Original

It's a miniature, roping dummy that is approximately 7" x 15" and comes complete with two ropes, two different sets of horns, and a rubber band to give the back legs some resistance and stability. These usually just sit on a table or the floor.

When I saw a tabletop game version these kids were using in the TikTok above, it caught my attention. It has poles to pull the rope on, a slider that shoots out the dummy, and a score clock.

Someone worked hard on that, and it looks like it has paid off in a lot of fun. It must be homemade, and perfect for some good, down-home, Texas fun.

Full-size roping dummies with sleds can go for over a thousand dollars, so this is a fun portable alternative. Does it make you a better roper? That remains to be seen.
