Demolition Begins On Former Location Of Hammer Equipment

First, it was the demolition of the original Casa Morales location, just north of the Lufkin city limits. Now, there's more demolition underway.

You may remember a few months ago when we did a story about Hammer Equipment in Lufkin moving to the south side of town. They were moving as part of the interstate work that will be taking place. Long story short, they built a very nice, brand-new shop at 4604 South First Street in Lufkin. They moved of their equipment and operations there.

Since then, the original Hammer Equipment location - 146 Winston 8 Ranch Road - has been sitting vacant. Well, yesterday, I saw that it won't be sitting vacant for much longer. Actually, it won't be sitting there at all.

Their new location on South First Street is pretty awesome. However, this is always the location that comes to mind when I think of Hammer Equipment. I think of it as the "original Hammer Equipment".

But, things change, and that's just how it goes.

I am actually pretty curious to see what's next for this piece of land. Will someone build something else there, or will it just be an open space, as the interstate construction takes place? I'll just be keeping an eye on it to see what's next.
