For over 20 years cook teams from all over East Texas have converged on the oldest town in Texas. The Do Dat BBQ competition is not only a lot of fun for the competitors, but it's also a delicious way to spend a Saturday.
You can taste some of the best BBQ in Deep East Texas, while the cooks fight it out to find out who has the best food in a wide array of categories. The "Fan The Flames" theme is back again for 2023 and everyone is invited out on Saturday, April 29, 2023.
The battle will be held at the Nacogdoches Exposition and Convention Center located at 3805 North West Stallings Drive on the loop. This year it's going to be so spicy that every cook team has to bring a fire extinguisher.
Cook Teams At The Do Dat BBQ Work Hard For Bragging Rights
There is a lot more going on at the Do Dat BBQ than just great BBQ. The teams are awarded prizes in a variety of competitions:
- Poultry
- Pork
- Beef
- Jackpot Beans
- Showmanship
Gates open at 10 am at the Expo Center, and beer is served starting at 12 Noon. Tickets are $15 per person.
There will also be vendors on site, so be prepared to pay extra for their offerings. All of the proceeds from this event go directly to the Nacogdoches United Way.
Awards are at 5 PM and gates close at 6 PM, so get there early and come hungry.
