UPDATE - As of Tuesday morning, the Flood Watch has been cancelled.

ORIGINAL STORY:

A very slow moving rain producer is expected to kick up rain chances in East Texas throughout the week.  Widespread heavy downpours are in the forecast for Memorial Day Monday and Tuesday with additional rainfall amounts of over 4 inches possible.  As a result the National Weather Service in Shreveport has issued a Flash Flood Watch for many counties in the Pineywoods until 7 p.m. Tuesday.

Angelina, Nacogdoches, Shelby, San Augustine, Sabine, Rusk, Panola, and Cherokee Counties are included in the watch area.  Counties to the south of Lufkin such as Polk, Trinity, Tyler, and Jasper Counties are not included in the watch area at this time.

Although localized flooding is the main threat from the storms, some of these storms could become strong or severe with the threat of gusty winds and small hail.

Healthy rain chances will remain in the forecast through the entire week.   Be sure to download the KICKS 105 App to receive weather bulletins on your smartphone.
