Now, before anyone goes off about how bow-season has already started...Yes, I know this piece of information. Do you really think that I grew up here in these woods and wouldn't know that bow-season starts before regular rifle season?

Anyway, now that we've got that out of the way...

Yes, the regular white-tailed deer season here in Texas is just over a week away. The first day of the season is Saturday, November 7th. That means that there's still time for you to go to the store - we've got no shortage of them here in our area - and get you a license. There's also time for you to get any new camo, gun maintenance, corn for feeders, ammunition, snacks for the deer stand - Don't you laugh, you know you all do it - and whatever else you deem necessary for a successful hunting season.

If you haven't been hunting, or just haven't been much of a fan of hunting, 2020 might be a good year to start and to change your attitude toward it. Let's face it. You don't have to worry about social distance protocols, because you're out in the middle of the woods, generally by yourself. You're alone - if you don't have kids, or you're not taking a significant other - so you get the chance to just unplug from all the craziness around you. Plus, if you get one - or more - you get some great meat to put in the freezer.

That all sounds like a win-win to me. It always has.

So, make sure that if you plan on going hunting this year, you go get that hunting license. Again, day one of regular season is Saturday, November 7th!
