Gucci Mane is the latest rapper to stake his claim as the inventor of the rap sub-genre trap music.

On Friday (April 6), the Atlanta rapper posted a Flash Back Friday photo that looks like it was taken about the time of his debut album Trap House in 2005. "#FBF The Day I Invented Trap Music #Guwop aka #TheEvilGenius #1017Ceo," he captioned the pic.

The inventor of trap music has been up for debate in the past. Last year, T.I. claimed he is the one who created the popular sub-genre on his sophomore album Trap Muzik in 2003. "We want to make sure that we give everybody the best T.I.P. album that we can give them, T.I. told Angie Martinez during an interview about his upcoming project." I'm going for trap music on this. Because a lot of people don't really, really know that I created trap music."

He continued, "There was no such thing as trap music prior to [T.I.]. No such thing. It didn't exist. It was OutKast and crunk, like that's what it was. Organized Noize and crunk."

The debate rages on.

In other Gucci-related news, The 1017 Eskimo rapper has two projects slated to drop this month including the joint project with Lil Wop, Hoodrich Pablo Juan, Lil Quill, Young Mal and Ralo, 1017 Eskimo Presents: Eskimo Boys Vol. 1, and the Migos and Lil Yachty collab Glacier Boyz, which is set to drop on April 13.
