The Iron Throne has become synonymous with the world of Game Of Thrones. Once the chair is no longer needed in filming, I am positive it will find a time to rest in Texas - specifically at Texas A&M University in College Station, about a 2 hour drive from here.

Martin chose A&M's Cushing Library’s Science Fiction and Fantasy Research Collection, after being impressed with the collection they already had. If you are a fan of George R.R. Martin, the author behind Game of Thrones, you might know that he has tons of his literary works stored there. The library seems to really like the guy, because they let him leave his personal collection of manuscripts, books, and letters there. Some 50,000 writings, known there only as the "wall".

Martin has also earned an honorary doctorate from the college. He has postponed receiving that honor till at least after the Game Of Thrones final episode. He also donated the 5 Millionth Book, an original copy of J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit to them before he started filming the 5th season of Game Of Thrones.

There are already swords and props from GOT at this library, so close to here makes me want to go see them. I think the Cushing Library is a shoe in to get the throne, so perhaps I could wait till then and see it all.
