Woodland Heights Medical Center Hosting Safety Event on Saturday
Woodland Heights Medical Center in Lufkin will be hosting its annual Super Safety Saturday event on March 21 in their parking lot west of the hospital's emergency entrance. This free event gets underway at 9 a.m. and continues until noon.
What Is The Purpose of Super Safety Saturday?
As the name implies, the goal of this event is to teach and reinforce children (and their parents) about good safety habits. There will be numerous businesses, organizations, agencies, and first responders that will offer demonstrations and details about safety. For instance, the City of Lufkin Police Department will be bringing a patrol vehicle as well as its armored rescue vehicle for kids to take a closer look. Other demonstrations and games will be offered by the Lufkin Fire Department, Texas Department of Transportation, and the Army Corps of Engineers.
Kids Can Win A Bike Just For Attending
As in years past, raffle drawings for bicycles will take place throughout the event. Children from toddlers to 14 years old can register to win. Those drawings will start just after 9 a.m., so the sooner you get to the event, the more chances you'll have to win.
Here's How You Can Get An Extra Entry To Win
A few weeks ago, Woodland Heights Medical Center teamed up with selected area Brookshire Brothers locations for their annual peanut butter food drive. The goal is to collect over 2800 jars of peanut butter for the East Texas Food Bank. If you bring a new jar of peanut butter for this drive, your child will receive an extra registration for the bicycle drawings.
The KICKS 105 live radio broadcast will also be there during the event.
