Throughout the year, Angelina Beautiful/Clean (AB/C) hosts several recycling and disposal events. These include their 'Shred Day' and 'Household Hazardous Waste Collection Day.' On Saturday, October 17, it's Tire Recycling Day. AB/C is partnering with the City of Lufkin, Angelina County, and Cook Tire & Service Center for this event, which will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at the City of Lufkin Solid Waste/Regional Recycling Center located at 500 Southpark Drive.

What Type of Tires Can You Bring?

Community members may bring up to four car or light truck tires for free drop-off. Volunteers will be available to unload those tires. Additional tires, beyond the first four, will incur a $2 per tire fee. Semi-truck tires will be charged $5 each, and there will also be a $5 charge to remove rims, if requested. Off-road and tractor tires will not be accepted, and business drop-off is not permitted.

How This Helps The Community

According to officials with Angelina Beautiful/Clean, every tire that is properly recycled is one less tire that could end up littering our beautiful East Texas community. In addition to being unsightly, discarded tires can also be a breeding ground for insects, such as mosquitoes, and a hiding place for unwanted creatures, such as venomous snakes. The 2025 Tire Recycling Event collected more than 1000 tires, and the goal this year is to increase that number.
