Highway 59: The Most Dangerous Deep East Texas Road
We have no shortage of dangerous roads in Deep East Texas. Between all of the county roads, winding highways, blind-spots, trees, etc. we have lots of stretches of road that could be considered dangerous. But what's the worst?
Highway 59, Soon Interstate 69, Could Be the Most Dangerous Road in Deep East Texas
I can't speak for all the roads in Deep East Texas, but I can say with certainty that Highway 59 which will soon be Interstate 69, gets my vote for most dangerous in Deep East Texas. Specifically, I'm referring to the portion between Nacogdoches and Lufkin, that contains the Angelina River.
Now, before you refute this, take some things into consideration. At this moment, there is a lot of construction underway on that particular stretch that makes it dangerous. Not only are they working to build entire structures for the interstate outside of both Lufkin and Nacogdoches, but they're also working to patch/repair the current road. Add those together, and it makes for a rough trip...
Something else to take into consideration is the sheer number of people that are traveling on that road. You've got workers coming to and from Nacogdoches, to and from Lufkin, students traveling to SFA, truckers making deliveries, and the list goes on. There's also a DPS weigh station, so you've got people that are cruising along, see a DPS trooper and slam on their brakes - like that's going to save them from a ticket.

At the end of the day, sure, I guess there could be more dangerous roads in Deep East Texas, but this one gets my vote.
