Polk County Sheriff Lyons would like to announce that the Polk County Amber Alert has been canceled.
At this time, Sylvia Norman and her 2 weeks old child have been located and are safe with law enforcement and CPS personnel.
Thank you to all who assisted in bringing this case to a successful conclusion.

Original Story

An Amber Alert was issued late Thursday night for a two-week-old infant from Livingston, Texas. Authorities fear the baby may be in immediate or grave danger.

According to the Amber Alert, the Polk County Sheriff's Department is searching for Sonni Ray Meilike of Livingston. She is described as a white female and is only two weeks old. She is 19 inches in height and has brown hair and blue eyes. She was last seen around 2:45 Thursday afternoon in Livingston. At that time, she was wearing a pink shirt and a diaper.

Police are also trying to locate the non-custodial mother of the child in connection with this abduction. Sylvia Nicole Norman is 31 years old. She is a white female, five feet, one inch tall, weighs 115 pounds, and has brown hair and blue eyes.  She was last seen wearing a white shirt with blue shorts and white leggings. She also has tattoos on her back and on her left arm.

Law enforcement officials are deeply concerned for the safety of this child.  Anyone with information about the whereabouts of Sonni is asked to contact the Polk County Sheriff's Office at 936-327-6810.

The AMBER Alert system is the standard that is used to locate missing and abducted children in all 50 states, the District of Columbia, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, and internationally in 31 countries.

Over 1100 children have been successfully recovered through the AMBER Alert system and 123 children were rescued because of wireless emergency alerts. There are 82 AMBER Alert plans throughout the United States.
