This sounds like something out of a movie, but it was a mistake that one locksmith in Texas will never forget. We got the details from WFAA who reported that a student in Haltom City, Texas asked his dad to borrow his 2015 Dodge Challenger Hellcat. But after arriving to school someone decided to call a locksmith acting as the owner of the Challenger Hellcat to have a locksmith unlock the vehicle and eventually stole it.

The vehicle owner Jason Reddick wants to know why the locksmith unlocked his vehicle for someone who never had any valid identification or paperwork for the vehicle he was claiming was his. It seems like a simple enough question, but it’s horrible that people would attempt something like this just to steal from another person. The value of the 2015 Dodge Challenger is around $65,000 and that vehicle has yet to be recovered by law enforcement.

What Steps Will the Vehicle Owner Take Next?

Reddick says he has been in contact with the company who employees the locksmith which is All Auto Tech, based out of Arlington, Texas. Reddick’s next steps are to involve the Texas Locksmiths Association in this case to see if any steps were overlooked by the locksmith company and their employee.

Other Items Stolen As Well

Beyond just the vehicle there were thousands of dollars' worth of sports equipment stolen from the vehicle. The Birdville ISD is working with Haltom City Police on this investigation which is still currently on-going.
