
Patron Grill In Lufkin Gone Before It Opened
(K-Fox 95.5) If you were wondering when the Patron Grill in Lufkin was going to be open, the answer is never. The ongoing saga at the old Red Lobster in Lufkin continues.

What started as confusion for some became a major expense for a local restaurant owner. In previous articles, we established that Red Lobster was going to be a new Tex-Mex restaurant.
We also learned that the owners of El Mariachi Mexican Grill & Bar in Lufkin were renovating the Red Lobster across the loop and turning it into a different Tex-Mex concept.
Owners Change Name Of Local Spot To Avoid Confusion
A few weeks ago, the signs were up, and they all said Patron Grill. This started many residents who only saw the sign and didn't know the history, thinking it was going to be like the one in Livingston with the same name.
To avoid the confusion, the owners have changed the name. Now all three of those large signs have been changed to read Tequila Grill.

Patrón in Spanish means protector, landlord, or boss. It's not just the name of a great tequila. They can't really copyright the name Patron, so they were nice enough to change it, but I don't think legally they had to.

El Mariachi Mexican Grill & Bar in Lufkin is jokingly referred to as Mex-A-Bees because for the first two decades of its life, the building housed an actual Applebee's. What will be the nickname for this new concept?
