Some might argue we don't need another Mexican food restaurant in Lufkin. I say that we have room for at least one more.

Ready or not the newest Mexican food place in Lufkin is now open. If you eat out you know you want to try the newest place in town.

It's a banner of honor for many Lufkinites to be first at the latest place. You might not be first if you go have a meal at El Mariachi Mexican Bar & Grill this week, but you will at least be close.

Restaurant History

Back when we first heard that El Mariachi was coming to town I did a little investigating and gave their Tomball, Texas location a call.

Though they were aware that the new location was opening, it's not really a chain. The owners of the Lufkin location's family own the Tomball location.

This is the old Applebee's location next to Chick-fil-A in the Southloop Crossing shopping center. This is the first thing in the location, since the neighborhood bar and grill closed at the beginning of the pandemic.

Now Hiring

Though they are open, the El Mariachi Mexican Bar & Grill could use more employees. If you are looking to learn the restaurant business while you work at the newest place in town, this might be for you.

They even left the 'Neighborhood Grill & Bar' sign from when the place was Applebee's. If that was your favorite bar you only had to wait a couple of years, but they are now open serving alcohol once again.
