Macklemore Informs Critic Questioning His “Racist” Haircut That He Got Rid of It

On Tuesday (Aug. 15), Twitter comedian Jon Hendren called for Macklemore to disown and repudiate his signature fade haircut, a style that was popular with members of the Nazi party over seven decades ago. The problem is, the Seattle, Wash.-based rapper dropped the do last year.

"Macklemore hair seems to be the chosen haircut of the racists now. i call on @macklemore to get online and denounce his own haircut," Hendren wrote. There's a really good chance his tweet was much more of a joke than it was a call to action. That didn't stop Macklemore from addressing it, though.

Using his Twitter account, Macklemore dropped some big facts on Hendren, tweeting that he, "Got rid of it over a year ago." Welp.

Macklemore really hasn't rocked that hairdo, which has been called the "Hitler Youth" cut, in a pretty long time. Whether or not Macklemore did it to avoid being compared to White supremacists can't really be known for sure.

In any case, Macklemore, who, in the past, has used music to address the idea of White privilege and racism in America, has more to worry about than how people perceive his hairstyle. The rapper is currently in the midst of promoting a new Ryan Lewis-less album.

So far, he's put out two music videos for the project. One is for "Glorious," an inspirational new track featuring Skylar Grey. In the vid, he takes his grandma out for a day of partying on her birthday. The other one is his imaginative Lil Yachty collab, "Marmalade."
