TEXAS: Keep These Thankgiving Leftovers Out Of The Microwave
I predict that you will eat a lot of leftovers soon. As we plan to gather this Thanksgiving, let's put a little thought into what we are cooking, and if it should be thrown out after the big meal.
Not everything can go on a plate and be reheated in the microwave according to Real Simple. You might think it's just how we have always done things in Texas, but it might need to be revised.
It's an unsuspecting way to get food poisoning. Have you ever wondered why you don't feel great after eating Turkey Day leftovers?
I might have found the culprit for you. The dose makes the poison, so if you don't heed these instructions, try to limit your exposure as much as possible.
Never Put This In The Microwave
After Thanksgiving, we have so many leftovers that we might have to improvise a bit. A big mixing bowl with no lid suddenly gets a foil top.
If you didn't pack the leftovers yourself, you never know what's lurking under that paper towel on a plate. Check everything you are about to reheat in the microwave and thoroughly remove all the packaging.
Make sure there is no plastic wrap or aluminum foil. The foil is bad for the microwave, and the plastic is bad for you.
Now For The Bad News About Leftovers
If you are microwaving something to eat, you generally reheat it to under 150 degrees Fahrenheit. That is around the limit that the soft tissue in a human mouth can sustain without burning.
