The cleanup of Louisiana in the aftermath of Hurricane Laura has begun. And who among us is not shocked by the devastation wrought upon our neighbors? From Cameron to Lake Charles and even northward to Alexandria and even the Shreveport, Bossier City area, the repair and restoration of communities will be lengthy and certainly, expensive.

But, in one major way, the havoc wrought by Laura was extremely localized. Injuries and fatalities caused by the rapidly moving storm were extremely limited.

So, as they begin to rebuild we can give thanks for the safety of loved ones. Let's look back at Louisiana's history of hurricanes, especially the most disastrous.
