When I'm scrolling through my Facebook feed, it's not really surprising to see people posting pictures of pets for adoption. Whether they're up for adoption from an animal shelter, from an individual, or from some other source, there's no shortage of them.

However, something that is different is seeing a police department featuring pets for adoption. And, that's exactly what the Nacogdoches Police Department is doing.

Every week, the Nacogodches Police Department features a pet that's available for adoption at the Nacogdoches Animal Shelter. They call it the NPD Sponsored Pet of the Week. I'm not sure how long they've been doing this, but it seems to get a lot of attention on Facebook.

Every week, I tend to see posts like these:

They do this every week. This is an awesome idea. The officers go out, get some pictures with the pets that are up for adoption, post the pictures, and the pets get adopted. Because, even if the people that follow the Nac PD Facebook page don't go adopt the pets, they still share the photos, and the pets get more exposure that way. Everybody wins!

So, if you or someone you know is looking for a pet to adopt, maybe you should check the Nacogdoches Police Department Facebook page each week. Who knows? Maybe you'll be the one adopting the next NPD Sponsored Pet of the Week!
