After 46 years in business local Tex-Mex staple El Chico closed it's doors on New Year's Day 2016. What came next will surprise you. The building was still left standing in what is a pretty bustling part of Lufkin.

You wouldn't expect that the insides would be completely gutted. In a little over 2 1/2 years since they closed, the restaurant was taken down to the studs. Apparently that was just a start, now that the restaurant has been completely demolished. There are rumors of a completely new business going in that location. A&B Body Shop is supposedly moving to the loop. They are currently on N. Raguet down from La Unica.

There are lots of buildings around town, that few people ever get the chance to go into. Once public places, now for lease or sale, that never see the light of day. If you have the access, and the time, I would love to see more of what's inside of any local buildings. I know I am interested in seeing them. So get out there and take a look. As long as you have permission to be there, we want to see it and share it with our listeners.

If you remember going to El Chico, and are surprised by this, share it and amaze your friends!
