If you are thinking about just ducking the entire holiday vibe and running off to arguably one of the hippest cities in the country, living in East Texas gives us a unique opportunity to do so. If you are ready for some serious holiday shopping, Austin offers something different than you'll find during a drunken night on Dirty 6th or any of the  party bars downtown. The Arboretum at Great Hills Austin shows up as one of the top outdoor shopping malls in Austin every time for a reason.

They have shopping options that you might have never imaged. Soma, SAS Shoes, Lamps Plus, Austin Cheese Co, Cheesecake Factory, Barnes and Noble Cafe featuring Starbucks, Lovesac, Pottery Barn, Sugar Boo and Soft Surroundings. During the holidays they even have a pop up holiday gift shop that really looked great. Not only can you roam around all of the shops, you could drive around the Great Hills area, and look at all the amazing houses. Most with huge holiday light displays.

Planning the trip all the way, means not crashing on your friends couch. The Renaissance Austin Hotel is right in the shopping center. They have all kinds of amenities, free parking, and free Tesla charging at the front. The huge atrium and Knotty Deck and Bar, plus an indoor and outdoor pool with a gym makes you feel like you are staying somewhere much more expensive. Starting at 120+ dollars a night, it's actually pretty standard hotel room fair. Get out of town, and take a break from the average, go to Austin and keep it weird.
