We are still experiencing a lot of changes due to COVID-19. There are still lots of shops and locations that remain closed due to this pandemic. Earlier today, we learned of an immediate closure in Nacogdoches due to COVID-19.

According to a press release from the city of Nacogdoches, the C.L. Simon Recreation Center on North Street closed immediately today because a Recreation Department staff member tested positive for COVID-19.

The recreation center had just re-opened on June 1st. During this time there were new cleaning practices implemented, and programs were limited. Staff members were also required to wear face masks and wash hands and use hand sanitizer frequently.

Due to safety concerns, the city made the decision to close the center down immediately. Other workers are now being tested and quarantined pending results. They did say that if you have been to the C.L. Simon Recreation Center anytime after June 15th, you may have been exposed, and you should watch for any COVID-19 symptoms.

They also posted the warning on the City of Nacogdoches-City Government Facebook page. This was the post from earlier today:

As you can see from the post above, the plan is to keep the recreation center closed "for the next few days". There's no set time limit on this yet, as they will be taking the time to do extra cleaning and sanitizing of the building.
