I know what you are thinking, but you are wrong. There aren't going to be XXX movies again on the Interstate/Hwy 59/69 between Lufkin and Nacogdoches. Yes, the Redland Drive-In Theater is making a come back, and no it's not just a pipe dream.

Just a few days ago people driving between Lufkin and Nacogdoches started noticing someone clearing out the area. I was just about to go by, and see what was happening. Then I started thinking of that scrap metal being hauled out. I didn't want to catch a nail in my tire.

Just then, they broke the news, the big announcement that they are reopening. I think they knew I was about to do a story and get all those facebook shares and likes. They took them for themselves, and that is fine with me.

The Redland Drive - In Theatre is really cool, one of the last places of it's kind left in Texas. Drive-In Theaters were all over this part of the country. Most of them were torn down. There was one in Lufkin near the Middle School back in the day. This one in Redland got lucky because it was out in the middle of nowhere. Now with the Interstate going in, they will have a lot of eyes on them.

The facebook post announcing it's comeback had gotten tons of comments and shares, I've lived in Lufkin for a long time, but not long enough to remember when this theater was anything but a place people went to watch dirty movies. Then after that it turned into a scrap yard.
