The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) investigated a three-vehicle crash this morning (4/15/21) on Highway 103 East of Lufkin on the Attoyac River Bridge. The accident caused the back up of traffic for the better part of an hour around mid-morning.

The preliminary crash investigation from the Texas Department of Public Safety indicates that at approximately 10:30 a.m., a 2007 Chevrolet sport utility vehicle was traveling westbound on Highway 103. A 2020 Kia passenger car was also traveling west behind the Chevrolet. A 2020 Nissan passenger car was traveling eastbound on 103. The driver of the Nissan reportedly passed another vehicle in a no passing zone. The driver of the Chevrolet steered to the left to avoid the collision. The driver of the Nissan also steered to the left and struck the westbound guardrail and then struck the back right side of the Chevrolet. The Nissan then struck the Kia passenger car head-on.

The driver of the Chevrolet is identified as 81-year-old Audis Farrell Jr., from Many, Louisiana. Farrell was not injured during the crash. The driver of the Kia is identified as 28-year-old Kayla Williams, from San Augustine. Williams was transported to Nacogdoches Medical Center for treatment. The driver of the Nissan is identified as 65-year-old Jerry Canada, from Pineland. Canada was transported to CHI St. Luke’s Hospital in Lufkin along with two passengers for treatment.
