This Study Put Texas On The List Of America’s Top 10 Grossest States
Texas is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I might be a little biased coming from the Lone Star State, but when it lands on a list of gross states I'm going to take issue with that.
Apparently, it's not all coming up roses in Texas. If you have ever driven by a landfill on a hot humid summer day you know what I am talking about.
There are a few less-than-desirable attributes that landed us on this short list of America's dirtiest states. The study used the following metrics to judge the states:
- Dirty Air
- Percentage Of Each State That Is Landfill
- Spread Of Illness
They also added mayonnaise recipes and a Croc-wearing matrix to get their final numbers. I thought Crocs were cool now, but for this study they are considered gross.

What Are America’s Dirtiest States?
According to a website called Zippia Texas ranked the 5th grossest state. Grosser than New Jersey, and even New York.
Mostly because New York just ships all of its trash out of state. You can see the full list and gross science here.
Texas ranked so low because of our propensity for spreading illnesses like the flu. Apparently, we need to wash our hands more or invest in some hand sanitizer.

Is This Just Another Trash Survey Trying To Make Texas Look Bad?
I think this data is pretty solid, aside from the crocs and mayo references. We could all do a little more to stay healthy and keep from spreading illnesses.
I will say that I think we can do better when this study comes out next year. Texas is a beautiful place to live and work.
