Tyler and East Texas will be celebrating the rose this weekend with the 86th annual Texas Rose Festival.

Tyler is world renowned for its roses and is home to the largest rose garden in the U.S., spanning across 14 acres of land and featuring more than 38,000 rose bushes blooming more than 500 varieties of roses. The Tyler Rose Garden recently was recognized as a national treasure and is listed in the National Register of Historic Places.

The celebration this year kicks off with the ribbon cutting and prayer at the Tyler Rose Garden Thursday (October 17th) followed by many other events including the queen's coronation, luncheons, a parade along Front St. Saturday morning and an arts and crafts fair at Bergfeld Park.

The parade will begin at Front St. and Glenwood Blvd. Saturday morning at 9 a.m. and will continue west along Front St. ending up at Rose Stadium.

The annual Rose Festival Arts & Craft Fair will be held at Bergfeld Park in Tyler Saturday and Sunday, October 19 and 20 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. The fair features artisans from all over Texas selling their hand made crafts, there will be live entertainment along with a Kid's Zone and concession area (a fee may be required for Kid's Zone and concessions).
