Texas shoppers might do a double take when they walk into Walmart stores this spring and see 12-count cartons of eggs for only $1.98 at their favorite stores. The only clue they might have is that these might not be real eggs since we are just days away from Easter.
Egg prices have continued on an uphill trajectory, along with the prices of everything else. With the biggest egg-related holiday just days away, everyone is looking for lower-priced ways to celebrate.

In Deep East Texas, just remind the kids that there was no hiding eggs in the bible and this holiday is all about Jesus. That keeps all your money in your pocket, and now you don't have to deal with the over-commercialization of the season.

If you are still looking to have fun hunting this Easter and don't want to pay outrageous prices, there is an alternative. Plastic eggs are always the way to go, and I've never hidden anything but those for kids.

You can put things inside, or you can even buy them pre-filled. We would always stuff a few dollars in select plastic eggs and hide them so everyone had something to shoot for.

You could also make your own confetti eggs, but it's not as easy as it seems. If you can buy a dozen for under 2 dollars, I would just buy them. Plastic eggs have always been the go-to alternative, though there are other things you can use.
