If you're like me, then you're very familiar with the closed down Abitibi Paper Mill in Lufkin. Growing up here, we would pass by the mill every time we came into Lufkin. But, it's been closed since 2007. Now, since that time, there has been a bit of movement there, with the structures being demolished and hauled off, but for the most part, it's just sat there.

This is the most recent photo from Google of the mill:

According to Google, this picture was taken in December 2018. Since then, there hasn't been much change.

My question is: What should become of the old paper mill? Do any of you have any thoughts or ideas on what should happen next?

Obviously, it's a huge piece of land that the mill sits on. With that being said, the opportunities for it are practically endless. You could have a shopping center, a housing development, another factory, an entertainment venue like Main Event, a 'one-stop-shop' similar to Buc-ee's...I could go on, but like I said, the opportunities for new ideas is endless.

Now, it's your turn. We want to hear from you guys. What kind of thing(s) would you like to see take over that particular piece of land just east of Lufkin? Or, even better, have you heard of plans that are already in place for it?

Feel free to leave any thoughts and ideas in the comment section below!
