For the past 3 weeks, the concerned eyes of our nation have been focused on the bombings happening in the Austin area.  For the past 3 weeks, those living in and around the Capital City have been on edge.  Hopefully, life will soon be getting back to normal.

According to numerous reports, the suspected person responsible for at least 5 package bombs is dead. According to an Austin Police Department press conference, early Wednesday morning, scores of local, state, and federal law enforcement agents descended upon an area in Round Rock, Texas, just off Interstate 35. Police ultimately followed a vehicle driven by the suspected bomber.  That person then pulled his vehicle in a grassy area and detonated an explosive device in his own vehicle as officers approached.  This blast took the life of the suspected bomber.  One officer suffered minor injuries in that explosion.

Officials are quick to point out that over the past 24 hours, the suspected bomber may have circulated other explosive devices in the area that have yet to be discovered, so the Central Texas community is still being asked to be very vigilant and cautious. Obviously, this is a very fluid and developing situation, and more details will be forthcoming throughout the coming hours and days.

My daughter lives in San Marcos, just south of Austin.  There was definitely concern in our conversations when the first bombing happened on March 2nd.  3 more bombs were detonated over the next two weeks, however, it was the bomb that went off at a Fed-Ex facility in Schertz, Texas that really intensified her concern.  That explosion put San Marcos within the perimeter of reported bombings and the conversation of her coming home for a few days to East Texas had been brought up.  Thankfully, due to the hard work of law enforcement, life can soon be getting back to normal.
