As if this year can't get any worse as the coronavirus pandemic changed the way we interact with each other by social distancing and wearing face coverings it seems as if it could put a dark cloud over the most wonderful time of the year which is Christmas.

The landscape of the 2020 holiday season is looking real troublesome as a 160 year tradition is coming to an end as Santa Claus will not be making his yearly visit at Macy's flagship store in New York City due to COVID-19 according to ABC News.

This is truly heartbreaking as the company says that more than a quarter million people come to see Santa at that location and it would be very difficult to create a safe environment while dealing with this pandemic.

Other locations are suffering the same fate as Chicago and San Francisco will also not have good ole Saint Nick at their Macy's locations either.

A tradition that has been going on since the 1860's Macy's being dubbed as "The Home of Santa Claus" for decades and even had a role in the 1947 holiday classic "Miracle on 34th Street."

To improvise Macy's will be offering a virtual online experience on their website until the end of November, there families will be able to play games, take a virtual tour of Santa's workshop and even get a selfie with Santa

Will other malls and department stores follow suit and cancel Santa's visit?

Only time will tell...
