Georgia-Pacific Employees Donate to Alzheimer’s Association

2020 has caused many non-profit organizations to retool and revamp their fundraising efforts and events.  The local Alzheimer's Association has had to do just that leading up to their annual Walk to end Alzheimer events in Lufkin and Nacogdoches.  These walks are now virtual for the most and the association has relied heavily on sponsors to step up with donations.

Georgia-Pacific’s in Diboll is one of the many area businesses to have done just that.  The company's lumber employees are hoping to make a difference in the lives of people suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.   As part of the national Alzheimer’s Association’s annual “Walk to End Alzheimer’s,” Diboll Lumber employees donated $1,066.50 to help provide care and support to those living with the disease and to fund ongoing research.  The money was raised from a silent auction that gave employees an opportunity to bid on various items, including apparel, coolers, and hunting gear.

Among those contributing to the cause and securing the highest bids for items are Georgia-Pacific employees Rafael Pena, Gerardo Alvarez, Cathy Dover, and Gary Williams.
