Harold’s House Transitions Annual Lufkin Bingo to Drive-In Event
The 2020 edition of the Harold's House Designer Purse Bingo in Lufkin will be somewhat different this year. Usually, over 1000 bingo players make their way to the Pitser Garrison Civic Center in Lufkin with hopes of winning a brand new designer purse. But, thanks to all the challenges this year has brought and continues to bring, safety guidelines have forced organizers to transition this year's event to a drive-in type format.
On November 12, at the George H. Henderson Jr. Expo Center in Lufkin, you can win prizes playing bingo from your car. Tickets will be sold for cars of 6 people, 4 people, or 2 people. Each vehicle will have it's own space and personal tailgate area. Prices range from $80-$240 (per car) and that includes admission, game cards for 15 games, daubers, and a food box for each person. Drinks will not be included, so you'll need to bring your own. Registration and parking will begin at 6 pm and the bingo play starts at 7 pm.
This year's prizes will be a little different as well. There will still be quite a number of designer purses to win, but this year's prize list will also include weekend getaway packages, Yeti merchandise, Home projection unit, and much more. This year's raffle prizes include a Louis Vuitton Graceful MM valued at $1,560.00 and a Browning X Bolt Hell's Canyon Long Range Leupold VX 3I 4.5 - 14x50 Duplex Scope valued at $1,750.00.
Speakers will be set up on the main stage of the parking lot for the announcement of the bingo numbers, plus, a low power transmitter will allow you to listen to the broadcast on a set frequency on the radio dial of your vehicle.
All proceed will directly support the mission of Harold's House of advocating for child victims of sexual and physical abuse through a team-center, trauma-focused approach.
