Severe Storms, Tornadoes Possible…Then Frigid Blast Expected For East Texas
East Texans will be experiencing their coldest weather of the season (so far) as arctic air blasts into the Pineywoods this Thanksgiving weekend. But, before the frigid temperatures move in, Deep East Texas could experience some severe weather with damaging winds, hail, and a tornado or two in the mix.
Severe Weather Outlook for Deep East Texas
Temperatures across the Pineywoods are expected to push to near 70 on Saturday ahead of the cold front. Then, by Saturday afternoon and evening, storms are expected to develop along the frontal boundary. The Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, places much of East Texas in the 'marginal risk' area for the possibility of severe weather.

Heavy downpours will occur with some of the storms, with isolated areas receiving an inch or two of rain. Widespread flooding is not expected.
Get Ready For The Cold
Once the front passes, frigid weather will move into East Texas and stay with us for a while. The low temperatures for Saturday night will dip to near 50, while Sunday's high temperatures will only reach 50. For the majority of next week, high temperatures will be in the 40s and 50s, and overnight lows will be in the 30s and 40s. Rain chances will also be in the forecast for much of the week.
