The Hudson Hornet's varsity basketball program will have a new head coach for the 2023-2024 season.

Over the past several seasons, Brantner had served as the leader of the junior varsity Hudson basketball team, while serving as an assistant coach to the varsity program led by Cannon Earp.

Earp is Heading North

Coach Cannon Earp has been named the new head basketball coach for Sulphur Springs High School. He replaces Brandon Shaver who resigned from the Wildcat basketball program to take over the head coaching job at Lake Travis High School.

Cannon Earp's wife, Samantha, relayed the news of the change in a post on her Facebook Page. She mentions that Cannon has accepted the job at Sulphur Springs, and she has also taken a job within their school district

Earp's Years at Hudson

Coach Earp accepted the head coaching job at Hudson in the summer of 2020. His teams at Hudson have made the playoffs in two of his three years, just missing out this past year with a 5th place finish. Earp had coached at Fairfield before accepting the job at Hudson.

Sulphur Springs is also in the 4A conference. The Wildcats have had enormous success as of late. They repeated as district champs this past season going a perfect 10-0 in district play.  Sulphur Springs advanced four rounds deep in the playoffs before being eliminated in the regional semifinal game.
