In the summer of 2022, then Angelina County Sheriff Greg Sanches got a call at around 5:30 AM on Thursday, June 30. Someone employed by the property owner of the Lufkin papermill had shot and killed a trespasser at the mill.

Kenneth Holley, 56, of Houston, was found dead on the property. It was believed that they were in the act of stealing copper.
According to KTRE, the alleged shooter has now been identified as Dean Schroeder, 53. He was in Judge Bob Inselmann's court for an arraignment on Thursday.

Some of them try to steal copper and other things from the facility. The Lufkin paper mill on State Highway 103 East has been broken into multiple times, and many of the perpetrators were arrested. It is a large campus to guard, with its own set of challenges when trying to keep people out.
Why Was Deadly Force Used This Time At Paper Mill?
We don't know why this encounter ended in deadly force; the wheels of justice are slow. Hopefully, the true story will come out when Dean Schroeder gets his day in court.
