Names Released In Lufkin Meat Market Shooting
Right before Superbowl LIX, instead of pulling the lever on a recliner to watch the pregame, a Lufkin man was being shot. According to the Lufkin Daily News two men fought outside the La Michoacana Meat Market located at 416 Atkinson Drive on Sunday around 1:10 PM.
A report from Lt. Jerry Smith of the Lufkin Police Department recounts the altercation between two Lufkin residents. Jose Mojica Lopez, 38, got into a verbal altercation with Ruben Ochoa, 51.
During the argument Lopez slapped Ochoa, and then Ochoa pulled out a gun and fired three to four shots. One of those shots hit Lopez in the arm, and he was taken to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
