
Self-Defense Claimed In Another Lufkin Shooting
Update: Suspected shooter has had no charges filed and was released after questioning. The shooting remains under investigation.
A Lufkin man suffered a gunshot wound to the arm first thing this morning. Not the way you want to start the week.
Monday at 10:30 AM, first shift responders were fresh and ready for the call at an apartment complex in the 3200 block of Daniel McCall Drive. The shooting likely occurred in the apartment complex listed at that address.
Authorities do not usually specify exactly where crimes take place.
Domestic Disturbance Leads To Shooting In Lufkin
Lufkin police arrived on the scene of a domestic disturbance call to find a man with a gunshot wound, according to the Lufkin Daily News. Officers detained the suspected shooter, while the victim was taken to a local hospital
The suspect's name has not yet been released, but we do know the domestic disturbance involved two males. Once taken to the Lufkin Police Department, the suspect claimed self-defense while being interviewed by detectives.
There has been a rash of shootings in Lufkin where the shooter has claimed self-defense. This all started in May when a shooter in Allentown killed a man and claimed self-defense.

Now, anyone arrested after shooting someone in Lufkin or anywhere else in Angelina County did it in self-defense. I guess they never thought to say that before, but now they have it and won't let go.
