A newborn baby has been found alive after apparently being flushed down a toilet in eastern China. Residents in an apartment block had heard crying coming from the communal washroom.  It's a miracle because over 100,000 babies are abandoned in China due to rules of one child per household and over-population.

After firefighters couldn’t remove the baby from the toilet, they elected to chop off a whole portion of the piping and took it to the hospital where the baby, with umbilical cord and placenta still in place, was freed.

One police officer said, “Fortunately the baby survived. But the person [who abandoned him] is still suspected of attempted murder.” The parents are still at-large.
