Yesterday I was dragged to the movies with one of my more nerdy coworkers to see the latest installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Thor: Ragnarok.

I’m an old school comic book fan, and I remember having a handful of Thor comics when I was a kid, but I was by no means a “fanboy” perse.

I went into this with very little knowledge. I may have seen the trailer once, but had forgotten it, and my pal James seemed to be overhyped ... which is nothing out of the ordinary for him.

Right off the bat the movie had the entire audience chuckling, but that was just a prelude to the comedy gold we were about to see.

I remember Thor being sort of awkward in a funny way, but this movie felt like more of a comedy than any other Marvel or superhero movie I’ve seen.

Sure there were cool fight scenes and crazy visuals, but the whole movie I found myself laughing at pretty much every scene.

They’ve introduced a lot of characters I knew nothing about, and it can be a bit daunting seeing all these aliens thrown at you, but the lines these characters deliver will keep you smiling until the credits are rolling.

James went overboard and wouldn’t shut up about how everyone he knew needed to see it, but I can honestly see how this movie isn’t for everyone.

If you find yourself bored this weekend, and looking for a good mindless laugh, go check out Thor: Ragnarok.

Action 4/5
Visuals 4/5
Comedy 4/5
Drama 1/5
Plot 2/5

I’m just throwing random numbers around. Just go see it for yourself. If you run into James, you might be better off to just tell him you saw it and liked it. Then just run away.
