Cafe In Nacogdoches Hosts Concert Series To Unify Community

If you are a fan of blues, zydeco, lounge, reggae, and funk music, there is a spot in Nacogdoches for you. The Love Music Hate Racism concert series will be held at the Old Tyler Road Cafe located at 603 Old Tyler Road in Nacogdoches.

The very first concert in the series is coming up on Friday, July 19, 2024 at 8 PM. Well-known Houston-based blues musician "The Mighty Orq" will be performing.

The rest of the lineup is going to be just as exciting.

Old Tyler Road Cafe Is The New Music Venue In Nacogdoches

In May 2023 the Old Tyler Road Cafe opened up to the public. According to the Nacogdoches Daily Sentinel, the restaurant invested in sound equipment to open the door for touring musicians to stop in and perform.

It will also give some great ambiance while you are there for breakfast or lunch. They are currently serving from 7 AM to 3 PM Monday - Saturday.

Supporting this local small business in Nacogdoches benefits the culinary and cultural scene.

Love Music Hate Racism Movement Started In The U.K.

Jim Edmonds is new to SFA and Nacogdoches. He is currently teaching guitar at SFA Music Preparatory.

He helped put the concert series together and is one of many working toward a greater goal with this event.

"Love is a real thing, music is a real thing, hate is a real thing, and racism is a real thing." Edmonds said in a recent interview with the Nacogdoches Daily Sentinel.
"It's a very simple message, and that is what I like about it. In an especially divisive election year, the concert series presents an opportunity for unity. This is a simple statement of 'we can all get together and have a good time.'"
