New Wednesday Trash Day For Some Lufkin, Texas Residents
People are creatures of habit, especially in Lufkin. You might have had the same trash day for years, but that is about to change.
The City of Lufkin will be modifying the schedule for four of its residential waste routes starting January 10th, 2022. With these changes your trash day could be moving to Wednesday.
Four routes in all will be changing to this new trash day. The last time we had a change was in 2020 when the City of Lufkin did away with its curbside recycling plan. This transition might be a little easier.
Will My Trash Day Change?
Let's go over the zones to figure out if this even applies to you. There are four routes that will be affected.
Route 1 is broken up into two sections noted in green on the map. If you are in this area your trash day is changing from Monday to Wednesday. Route 6 in the picture is also changing from Tuesday to Wednesday, it is in a mauve color.
Route 11 is also broken up into two different areas noted in red. Their trash day is currently Tuesday and is also moving to Wednesday.
Route 12 is in blue and is currently Monday, and is moving to Wednesday. There are also two different areas for that route.
Seeing all of the routes together will give you a better idea of when your trash day is. All the other routes are unaffected.
Why Did The City Of Lufkin Change My Trash Day?
We used to get woken up by the trash truck when I was a kid. Now it is well into the afternoon when our trash gets picked up.
This change will make the routes more efficient and we will all benefit from earlier pickup times.
