Scout House at Chambers Park Demolished

If you have even been to Chambers Park, you might not recognize it today. The Lufkin City Council voted to demolish the Scout House in mid December of 2019 for valid reasons I am sure. I had perhaps only been inside once when I was a kid. I just remember it always being locked up tight. I was never a scout, but I know a few that went to this building for meetings.

Sentimentality aside, there are some structures like the rock house, that are architecturally significant to the park. Even the pavilion closest to the rail-road, has a fireplace, and is most likely as old as the park itself, and deserves saving. I think it will be fine once everything goes back to nature as a park should be.
